Hussein first started with an assessment that taught me that I lacked a mind-body connection in performing basic movements. This resulted in these movements being performed by secondary muscles. I learned that foundational strength was a clear first step in solving this issue from the ground up. The motivation and education provided through coaching at HSL Fitness make it that I now walk straighter and prouder than I did before, both in an effort to correct physical posture and project assertiveness and confidence to support my mental state. Hussein is able to adapt the training and I can trust that he is conscious of my energy levels based on my performance and does not try to push any activity into an area that would cause me to associate negative feelings with it. I feel more comfortable in my own skin and I am beginning to understand how parts of my body interact and affect the others and how to use that to my advantage or make certain movements difficult but more effective. I appreciate the thorough explanations and frequent verbal cues to form associations that can be used when training alone. He is very attentive during each movement performed and easily spots all areas that can be fixed so that I have a firmer grasp on the movement as a whole with each passing session. Rarely do I ever feel like a tip or cue has been given to me without a full understanding of why it is useful. Through his explanations I understand the reasons why each exercise is on my program and how they might contribute to other movements currently programmed or yet to be programmed.
Hussein’s emphasis on stretching and mobility has ingrained its importance in my mind and helped me feel better physically as well through slow and consistent progress. I feel somewhat stronger than I have in the past but most importantly I now have a clearer idea of the kind of strength that is possible on the road ahead and how to achieve it. I highly recommend Hussein and have spoken his praises to both beginners and advanced individuals given his careful and steady approach. I am happy with the training I have received so far and feel like I am on the right path to achieving my goals safely and efficiently.
